Until the beginning of the season, Diaz was one of Samsung's concerns.

In the opening two consecutive games against Kiwoom, he had five hits in nine at-bats for two home runs, but his bat suddenly became weak. He had only one hit in the three consecutive games against NC Dinos on March 25-27, and was excluded from the starting lineup against Doosan on March 29. For Samsung, writing all replacement cards to foreign hitters and recruiting hitters with no outstanding major league experience were both "adventures."

Fortunately, Diaz changed all the question marks into exclamation marks. Diaz, who contributed to his team's advance to the playoffs by batting .282 with seven homers and 19 RBIs in 29 games during the regular season, hit hard with a batting average of 0.357 with three homers and six RBIs in four games during the playoffs. He also boasted his batting average of 0.359 with two homers and four RBIs in five games during the Korean Series. He also renewed his contract after finishing the fall baseball league.

Samsung, which had trauma from foreign hitters last year, is inevitably anxious about Diaz's sluggish performance early this season.
